About

This blog is primarily about a family who has chosen to live out James 4:14 – that is to live our lives as but a vapor, a burning vapor that will be here only for a short time. We have chosen to follow after Jesus by living on the edge between reason and faith, and sharing our journey with friends and family in hope that we encourage a similar journey.
To God be the glory!

I was born in Memphis, TN to Jim & Patti on May 25, 1973. I did most of my growing up near Atlanta, GA with my second Dad, Larry, my Mom, and my brothers – Shane and Larry. I became a Christian in college through a man named David Burns. Burns proved instrumental in not only Salvation, but also setting the example as someone who was living his life as a vapor. I then met the woman who would change my world and began the long Patrick McConnellprocess of pursuing her for marriage. During that process I joined the Air Force and moved to RAF Mildenhall, United Kingdom. Our last year in the Air Force brought Jennifer and I to Spokane, WA where we began attending FBC. Under the faithful mentoring of Pastors John Smith, Mike Rosario, John Koh, Bob DeLateur, and many other influential men, I pursued my passion to become a Pastor. I joined Valley Bible Church as a Pastor in 2004 and served as a Pastor and Elder until we moved in Dec. of 2008.

After a 15 year absence we returned to Georgia in January of 2009 and currently live in Macon, GA.  I worked as the Executive Director of Grace Giving International for 2 years and the Executive Director of New City Church downtown for a year.  I’m currently working as the General Manager for a commercial roofing company.  I love Jesus, my family, adoption, blogging, fine cigars, micro-brewed beers, and social networking.

Jennifer grew up in the Middle Georgia area, so moving to Macon was like moving back home.  Jennifer has been married to Patrick 15 years and continues to be amazed that the Lord has blessed her with such a man.  She has a passion for adoption and orphan care, and serves on the Board of Directors of Grace Giving International. She currently works for a local preschool as an administrative assistant and is looking forward to homeschooling again in the Fall of 2010.  She loves to relax with a glass of wine and tuned into one of her favorite nighttime television shows.
