Ladies, Keep Your Mouth Shut or We Will Cut Your Head Off!

That is the message being communicated in Iraq’s second largest city of Basra according to this news article I read at CNN today. There is a list of ‘rules’ that secret radical fundamental Islamic groups are requiring women to abide by. As American Christians, we often talk about how good we have it here in this country. There is really little to no persecution of Christians in the same magnitude that our brothers and sisters endure across the globe (I know some of you may say we are being persecuted politically or people look at you funny because you home school your kids or something, but I am guessing that is extremely minor when compared with Mom’s who are beheaded in front of their children…that happened in the CNN article) and even life for the unbeliever is cake compared to life in Iraq.

The article made me thankful for national freedom and for Christ. It reminded me of the great need for people to hear the name Jesus. It reminded me that for some we will be the aroma of life and for some the aroma of death. If you are headed to Iraq, I would suggest wearing a scarf over your head and skip on the makeup. It may make your stay in that sunny country a bit longer.
