Let Me Ask You 3 Questions

Last year I was working through some issues at a previous employment and I felt like I needed to get some godly wisdom applied to the situation.  I had also been participating in a greatly loved adoption forum and had met some outstanding people along the way.  One of those people was a lady name Kris.

Kris was passionate about God’s redeeming work in the lives of children, she was serious about living her life as a burning vapor, and she practiced what she preached – she had adopted and was an advocate for adoption.  One thing led to another and it was suggested that I contact her husband who was a business coach (although that is probably not the technical term for what he does).  I shot Brent an email, introduced myself and asked if I could bounce some things off of him.  He replied with an email that would change how I did my job and I continually go back to it.  Here is an excerpt:

Patrick,

What a privilege to receive your question. By the Grace of God, we have been given insight into some of History’s most powerful growth principles. I pray we will be able to provide some wise counsel…

There are three questions we normally ask that I feel compelled to insert here…

1) In what do you place your beliefs?

2) On what do you base your performance?

3) By what standards will you know if you are successful?

While they are three simple questions, when applied to situations in life and business they have been greatly helpful.  Brent and I still communicate via email and phone and I always enjoy getting to know this very insightful and very godly man.  I was sitting here trying to figure out some next steps in my current work and I remembered ‘The 3 Questions’.  I went back to them, applied them to my situation and felt greatly relieved at the other end of pondering.  You probably have to pay a fee or something to get these questions, so I may be giving away Brent’s secret weapon (teasing) but I wanted to share them with you.  First, to offer a little practical approach from a professional trained in the art of practicality and second, to thank Brent for helping me out in a tough spot and continuing to be an ear to bend.  God bless the members of the Body of Christ who are Jesus.

If you are a professional in need of a business coach I would highly recommend Brent and the practical out-of-the-box thinking that he brings to the table.  You can acquire his services here and they are well worth the fee.
